Who we are

JSON to Excel is operated by JSON to Excel. If you have any questions about this Privacy Policy or your personal data, you can contact us at info@json-to-excel.com.

Information we collect

We collect the information needed to provide the service:

  • Account details such as your name, email address, and password.
  • API keys and usage counts linked to your account.
  • JSON payloads you submit so we can generate Excel workbooks.
  • Support messages you send to us.
  • Limited analytics information such as pages viewed, browser type, device information, approximate location, and referral sources.
  • First-party product events such as page views, signup steps, free tool conversions, and checkout flow events.
  • IP addresses and request metadata for security, abuse prevention, rate limiting, and troubleshooting.

How we use information

We use information to:

  • Create and manage your account.
  • Generate Excel files from submitted JSON.
  • Provide temporary download links for generated workbooks.
  • Monitor usage limits and improve reliability.
  • Investigate errors, abuse, suspicious activity, or support issues.
  • Respond to support and billing questions.

Legal basis

Where applicable, we process your information:

  • to perform the services you request;
  • to comply with legal obligations; and
  • where we have a legitimate interest in operating, securing, and improving the service.

JSON and generated files

JSON data submitted to the API is uploaded to our servers and used to create the requested Excel workbook. We do not retain submitted JSON longer than necessary to complete the conversion, except where temporary storage or access is required for processing, troubleshooting, support requests, security, or abuse prevention.

We do not inspect customer JSON except where necessary to investigate support requests, errors, suspicious activity, or abuse.

Generated Excel workbooks are stored temporarily in object storage, such as AWS S3, using randomly generated download URLs. These links expire automatically after a short period and the files are subsequently removed from storage.

Because JSON payloads may contain personal or confidential information, we recommend avoiding the submission of sensitive personal data unless it is necessary for your use of the service.

Payments

Payments and subscription management are handled by Stripe. JSON to Excel does not store your full card details. Stripe may process payment information according to its own privacy policy.

Analytics

We collect first-party product events to understand aggregate site usage, signup flow performance, free tool conversion, and which blog posts bring users to the service. This may include pages viewed, browser type, device information, approximate location, referral sources, and high-level funnel events. We also use Google Analytics, but Google Analytics is only loaded where you have accepted optional analytics cookies.

Cookies

We use cookies and similar technologies to operate the website, manage logged-in sessions, and remember cookie preferences. You can accept or decline optional Google Analytics cookies using the cookie banner. You can also control cookies through your browser settings. Blocking some cookies may affect account login or dashboard functionality.

Service providers

We use service providers to run the product, including hosting, storage, payment processing, analytics, and email support tools. These providers process information only as needed to deliver those services.

International transfers

Some service providers may process information outside your country, including providers used for hosting, object storage, payments, and analytics. Where required, appropriate safeguards are used to protect personal information.

Data retention

Account records are kept while your account is active or as needed for billing, legal, security, and operational reasons. Submitted JSON is not retained longer than necessary to complete the conversion, except where temporary access is required for processing, troubleshooting, support, or abuse prevention. Temporary generated workbook links expire quickly and generated files are subsequently removed from storage. Support emails may be retained so we can resolve follow-up questions.

Your rights and choices

Depending on your location, you may have the right to:

  • access your personal information;
  • correct inaccurate information;
  • request deletion;
  • object to certain processing; and
  • request a copy of your data.

Some records may need to be retained where required for security, billing, legal, or operational reasons.

Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your information. However, no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

Children's privacy

This service is not intended for children under 13, or the applicable minimum age in your jurisdiction.

Changes

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "Last updated" date.
